FGFR2 Alteration

What is an FGFR2 alteration?

Researchers have learned a lot about cancer over the years. A key finding from this research shows that cancer can have many different causes. A common cause of cancer is altered genes, which affect the development of proteins your body needs to function correctly. Without the correct proteins, cells sometimes grow out of control, causing cancer and tumors.

Alterations to the FGFR2 gene are one such cause of cancer. In the ReFocus study, researchers are studying an investigational drug (RLY-4008) that may be able to closely target the incorrect protein created by the altered gene. The ReFocus clinical trial is investigating the theory that targeting this protein may prevent cells from growing out of control and may shrink existing tumors.
